Ivory & ebony cake
Just look at this beautiful ivory and ebony cake and imagine how pleased your guests will be when you serve this up!
Makes: 2 cakes
Will take: 40 minutes + 35 for baking
What you need:
For the dark batter:
- 150g dark chocolate
- 75g butter
- 3 egg yolks
- 75g sugar
- 120g flour
- 20g backing powder
- 3 egg whites
For the white cake batter
- 150g White Chocolate
- 75g butter
- 3 egg yolks
- 75g sugar
- 120g flour
- 20g backing powder
- 3 egg whites
What you do:
- Melt the dark chocolate in a Bain Marie
- Mix in the butter and remove from the bain marie
- Beat the three egg yolks and mix in one at a time.
- Fold in the sugar, flour and baking powder
- Beat the three egg whites and fold in.
- Then for the white mix, melt the white chocolate in a bain marie. Mix in the butter and then remove from the bain marie. Beat and mix in the egg yolks one at a time. Fold in the sugar, flour and baking powder. Beat the three egg whites and fold in.
- Pre heat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius. Butter two baking tins and pour in alternating layers of light and dark cake mix without stirring. Bake these cakes for 35 minutes.
