Chilli con carne

Chilli con carne

When you think of real comfort food, chilli con carne's got to be near to the top of the list, so try this with some unusual added flavours

What you need:

  • 1 tbs oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 4 tsp Schwartz Cumin Ground
  • 1 tsp Schwartz Coriander Ground
  • 1 tbs Schwartz Oregano
  • 1 Schwartz Bay Leaf
  • 450g minced beef
  • 2 tbs Schwartz Paprika
  • 4 tbs tomato puree
  • 1 tbs COOK ART Chilli & cocoa bean spice blend
  • 400ml tin chopped tomatoes
  • 200ml beef stock
  • 400ml kidney beans, drained
  • 1 tbs Schwartz Coriander Leaf
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • Sour cream and rice to serve.
  • Salad leaf garnish.

What you do:

  1. Gently fry the onion in olive oil until softened. Stir in Ground Cumin, Ground Coriander, Oregano and Bay Leaf. Cook for a minute to release the flavours.
  2. Add minced beef and brown. Add Paprika, tomato purée and COOK ART Chilli & Cocoa Bean spice blend.
  3. Stir in chopped tomatoes, beef stock and kidney beans. Reduce the heat and simmer until the sauce has thickened and the mince is cooked. Add Coriander Leaf, sugar and season to taste.
  4. Serve with sour cream, rice and green salad leaf garnish.
