Classic chilli con carne

A beautifully colourful chilli con carne with a dollop of soured cream

• Preparation: 10 mins
• Cooking: 30 mins
• Serves: 4

What you need:

• 1tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 green pepper, chopped
• 1 clove garlic, crushed
• 1tbsp hot chilli powder (to taste)
• 450g lean minced beef
• 1 can chopped tomatoes
• 4tbsp Heinz Tomato Ketchup
• 4tbsp tomato puree
• 1 can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
• 4tbsp soured cream

What you do:

1. Heat oil in a frying pan set over medium heat.
2. Add the onion and green pepper and cook for 5 minutes.
3. Stir in the garlic and chili powder.
4. Saute for 1 minute.
5. Crumble in the meat and brown well.
6. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, Heinz Tomato Ketchup, tomato puree and all but 1/4 of the beans.
7. Mash remaining beans and stir into meat mixture.
8. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.

Cook's tip:

Garnish with soured cream.
