Indian-style salad

Chaats are typical street food in India and have a wonderful moreish taste

Indian name: Aloo Channa Paneer Chaat

What you need:

  • 2 tbsp Patak's Brinjal (Aubergine) Pickle, pureéed
  • 2 tbsp Patak's Tangy Fruit Sauce
  • 100g potatoes, boiled and diced
  • 75g paneer, diced
  • 100g canned chickpeas
  • 90g pineapple, diced
  • 60g green pepper, chopped
  • 2 red onions, chopped
  • 2 tsp fresh root ginger, chopped
  • 1 tsp green chilli, chopped
  • ¾ tsp black pepper, crushed
  • juice of ½ lime
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 100g mixed salad leaves
  • 50g cherry tomatoes, halved

What you do:

  1. In a bowl mix together the Patak's Brinjal Pickle and Patak's Tangy Fruit Sauce and set aside.
  2. Mix together the rest of the ingredients except the mint leaves, salad leaves and cherry tomatoes.
  3. Pour in the Patak's Brinjal Pickle and Tangy Fruit Sauce mix. Check the seasoning and adjust the salt to taste.
  4. Sprinkle over the mint leaves and serve on a bed of salad leaves, garnish with the cherry tomatoes.

Handy tip:

Instead of fresh pineapple, you could use tinned pineapple in juice (drained).
