Croque monsieur with cranberry & caramelised red onion chutney
If you love toasted sandwiches, you'll love this take on the classic croque monsieur. Easy to make and delicious, you'll want more than one!

What you need:
- 8 medium slices of white bread
- 90ml / 6tbsp Baxters Cranberry & Caramelised Red Onion Chutney
- 8 thin slices smoked ham
- 100g / 4oz Gruyere cheese, sliced
- 50g / 2oz softened butter
What you do:
- Preheat a large non-stick frying pan. Arrange the bread on the work surface in pairs for a sandwich, spread each slice with a little chutney. Top one slice of each bread with a slice of ham, a slice of cheese and then a second piece of ham. Sandwich together with the other bread.
- Spread the outsides of the sandwiches with butter then cook two at a time in the hot frying pan, for 4 - 5 minutes, turning once, until the sandwiches are golden and crisp. Remove from the pan and cook the other two in the same way. Cut in half and serve hot.
